Today was
another good day because not only did I get to sleep in I also went outside my
comfort zone and tried new things. After hanging out in my room reading and
watching Netflix, my flatmate Carol invited me to play tennis with her. I told
her I would and I gave her fair warning that it was most definitely not my
sport. So we got to the court and the people there gave us a racket and a few
balls. I am ashamed to admit that the first ball I attempted to hit was
literally a swing and a miss! I was so embarrassed, but we both laughed it off
and we were good. We played for about a half hour but then it really started to
rain so we quit. However, at some point during our play I hit the ball under
the fence and yes I do mean under and no I do not know how that happened. Any
way, so I volunteered to go and get it. The only thing was it was like a maze
to get around the fence, so finally I decide to hop the fence, bruising my leg
in the process. Then, of course, I find the gate to get in, which I did use to
get out, so I guess I got the bruise for my impatience! :P After that we headed
back to the flat where I ate lunch and showered. Then Maggie, Meghan, Sam,
Helle, Olivia and I all went to the University Café and got milkshakes because according
to Magz it was national milkshake day. Mine was delicious by the way, although
I have noticed that they are not near as thick as what they are in the states,
but that makes it easier to drink so I am a happy camper. Once we finished
Maggie and I headed to the Social Event at Bute Hall and let me tell that
building is gorgeous. It has stain glass windows and vaulted ceilings plus blue
painted columns. I took some pictures on my phone and I shall try to add them
to the blog. Any way, while there they attempted to teach us traditional
Scottish dances and I danced every single one with Maggie! I know you guys must
be in shock because you all know how uncomfortable I am dancing in public. I do
have witnesses to collaborate my story so you can ask any one of them of you do
not believe me. It was not as bad as I was expecting because pretty much no one
knew what was going on so it made it really hard to be wrong. Any way Maggie
and I made a really good pair, well once we got the hang of it! I had a lot of
fun I definitely would do it again!
