3 Weeks Worth of Highlights

Hey Everyone!

I want to apologize to you all for not keeping up with my blog, I promise to do better in the future. I shall now try to catch you up on all the important highlights of the past three weeks and do not worry pictures will be included.

Lets see where to begin. I started labs since I last posted and I must say they are very different the labs back home. There are at least 60 people in the lab and we are not doing the same experiment. There are many different experiments going on at once and each experiment has a demonstrator that assists with the lab. However, for the most part you and your lab partner are pretty much on your own. Let me tell you this really makes me miss my small labs back home where I know everyone and I know that there are others that I can talk to if I do not understand everything.

Okay, the next big thing that happened was Meghan's 21st birthday! It was a blast and I am pretty sure Meghan had a great time. We went to a lovely Italian place where we all shared a bottle of wine and I got Spaghetti Carbonara, unfortunately I left my doggy bag on the table. I was so sad when I realized this later! Any way as you all probably know, I am not a huge alcohol person so at dinner I was as usual sipping my wine and I barely drank a quarter before everyone already finished their first glass. I am proud to say that I did indeed finish the whole thing by the time dinner was over, which probably surprised some people. :P After dinner we stopped at a liquor store and got some drinks to play drinking games with. I just got one bottle of cider. Once we got back to Meghan's apartment we gave her gifts and we ate cake. I am so happy that Meghan seemed to really like my gift! I got her the complete history of the Legend of Zelda, which is one of her favorite video games. The book had amazing drawings and all the characteristics of all the characters in the game, so I thought it was pretty cool as well. Although I definitely do not know as much about the game as Meghan does, especially since I am pretty lousy when it comes to video games. Well except for Wi bowling, I can kick most people's butts in that, but I digress. After we had cake we commenced with the drinking games. We began with Kings Cup and I of course broke the circle on my first try pulling a card out of the middle. Luckily, Meghan took pity on me and said that I did not have to chug my drink I just had to drink three fingers width, which is quite a big drink for me! :P We also played flip cup and I admit that a couple of the rounds the only thing in my cup was water, but hey I was not bad at getting the cup to stay up. Also while we were at the apartment our friend Bri was teaching Meghan how to open a champagne bottle with a knife. Meghan got it on the first try and her face was so priceless. She was literally giddy from getting it open right away. Don't worry the face in not only in my memory, I have a full video of it on Facebook, along with all the other pictures of that night as well. Once, we were all finished with the games we headed to a club, which is one of my favorite things in the world (sarcasm). It really was not that bad though because Meghan was having a great time and it really matter more for about the company I am than the place. I do not know the name of the place but it was very dark and very loud! Oh a funny thing happened, Eve was visiting this weekend so she came and celebrated Meghan's birthday with us. She tried to buy Meghan a yegger bomb, I think it is called but Meghan thought I needed more to drink so she insisted that I have it. Well, I have never had one before so I did not know you were suppose to drink it like a shot so I was just sipping it. And let me tell you it tasted like cough syrup. Then Eve was like "Marissa what are you doing? You are suppose to shoot it!"So ya that is how little I know of drinking. :P While Meghan's party was going on Kayla was having her Halloween Party so we decided to head back to Meghan's flat and Skype Kay and everyone and say hi. Kayla's costume was great. She was No Face, so it was very creepy. Any who after that I went back to my flat and crashed only to get up in a few hours to go to a volleyball, which we won by the way, so I guess the night of partying did not leave me too worst for wear.

The next big event to occur was Halloween. My flatmates and I decided to through a flat party where we all were going to make food from our respective countries (China, Norway, Brazil and the US). Now, of course we did not decide this until the night before Halloween so I really did not have time to but the proper ingredients for anything. Therefore, I knew no one was making dessert, so I made a cake and decorated it for Halloween. I know kind of corny and easy but hey it was all I had time for. My flatmates went all out and cut out decorations and hung them all over our living room/dining room. They are actually still there. :P They also made delicious food and I can not even tell you what all it was! It was just good. Oh I almost forgot we were all in costumes of course since it was Halloween. Again I was lame and I just wore my lab coat and classes to be a nerdy doctor/scientist. When I showed the costume to my dad he asked me where my costume was? So thanks dad, you are too kind! ;) My flatmates were a little more creative, one was a pumpkin another a penguin, another a frog and lastly the pale guy with the striped shirt from the Adams Family (snap, snap). You really can't say that without the snap. After we were all done eating I went downstairs and joined Meghan at a party there. I stayed until about Midnight then went to bed since I had class in the morning. Meghan and the others hit the clubs so my night was pretty short in comparison. Here are some of the pictures from Halloween.

My next grand adventure was with Daniella. We decided to get to know Scotland better so we took a bus downtown and saw the oldest house in Glasgow as well as the Necropolis and the St. Mungos Museum. It was so much fun the house was very cool. The door ways were so tiny though. Oh, funny story while we were taking pictures outside of the house these guys in a car drove by and smiled and waved to get in the picture, shouting that picture would so much better with them in it! It was so funny. Another great aspect of all the places we visited was they were all free which was so awesome. I really enjoyed the St. Mungos Museum because it had displays for all the religions in the world and it showed how each one was similar and different. I loved how they are really working on educating religious tolerance to all. Lastly, the Necropolis was so cool. It is a giant cemetery on a huge hill looking over the city. The tombstones were gigantic. Personally, I think that the people buried there were mostly from money and they wanted to feel as if they could still lord over people after they die and that is why they are on a hill looking down to the city. They also had several above ground tombs as well and there was this really Roman looking one but it had no name on it and it looked like there was literally no way to get in. So of course my overactive imagination said that it would be silly to have a grave that you could not visit, so it had to be keeping something in rather then us out. :P Start creepy music now. I mean it was just Halloween the night before so that is probably why that thought popped into my head to begin with. Any who here are some of the pictures from the house, museum and Necropolis.

Alrighty , well that is all for now folks. My next big adventure was London and I think my fingers will fall off if I try to type any more tonight and believe me there is a lot to say about London. So I shall fill you in this weekend! Adios!
